Percy Shelley (1792-1822) was born in Warnham, Sussex. A talented poet, Shelley was expelled from Oxford for publishing a pamphlet titled 'The Necessity of Atheism'.

Depart not as thy shadow came,
Depart not - lest the grave should be,
Like life and fear, a dark reality.
lines from 'Hymn to Intellectual Beauty'
